One of my favorite things about living in Louisiana is the natural infrastructure. There is something so hauntingly beautiful about our wetlands — the swamps, marshes, bayous, and forests, as well as the creatures that live in them. I don’t get out to Jean Lafitte’s Barataria Preserve as much as I’d like to, but it’s still my favorite escape in the GNO area. I find it both peaceful and mystical — a place where I can reconnect with my spiritual side and appreciate my surroundings.
This past Saturday I worked on a conceptual shoot at Barataria with a friend of mine from Florida. It was hot (80 degrees in February). It was muggy (just look at my hair). But it was beautiful. It felt so nice to run barefoot through the muddy trails and dip my toes in the cool bayou waters. I wanted the clothes to be simple and the styling bare minimum — the idea was to sort of blend in while also feeling wild and free. These are all older pieces, but I’ve linked similars below, and my Porter Lyons necklace is still available (& on sale). <3
